Bill Gilman

billBill Gilman is a dedicated father and husband, who believes that The Lab is one of many compelling model for the future of education.   After graduating Cornell University with a dual degree in Film Studies and Systems Engineering, he was lucky enough to be part of the bleeding edge of the emerging digital media revolution.  He has also worked on over 30 feature films as a visual effects supervisor and artist, including a Star Wars movie, a Spielberg movie, a superhero movie and American Hustle.

Between film projects he is working as one of the volunteer parent tech manager and the volunteer physical plant manager, and has a pretty good idea of where The Lab is heading, and it is a beautiful space and philosophy.

healtherHeather Gilman

Heather is married to Bill Gilman and is mother to two sons.  She is a principal with Mercer as West Market Finance Leader.  She is a graduate of Stanford School of Business.

Cece Hearn

Cece is the mother of a 13-year-old son and is one of the founding member of The Lab.   She is a senior level project manager in human resources and skilled designer and chef.

Lyndee Knox

LyndeeLyndee is a mother of two children ages 8 and 13, both with diverse learning styles. She has her PhD in Educational and Clinical Psychology and was an Associate Professor at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine for 8 years. She served as co-director of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Academic Center of Excellence on Youth Violence Prevention in Southern California for 10 years and serves as CEO of LA Net, a Long Beach based non-profit focused on eliminating health disparities in the region. Lyndee specializes in program replications and start-ups. Her husband Gregorio Luke is from Mexico and is an expert in Latin American Art and Culture.

Frankie Lee

frankFrankie is a graduate of UCLA in International Relations – Business Administration. He has over 20 years experience in international business development, specializing in U.S.- Far East operations, 11 of which he served as COO for a private trading and investment firm based out of Hong Kong.

He has also founded and sold two companies and successfully incubated several others. He is married with a 10-yr.old son and is a dedicated father devoted to his family. He is passionate about food, wine, outdoor sports, and living a balanced life full of friends and rich in experience.

Sarah Naccarato

sarahSarah is President, CEO and Co-Founder of Iconography. Along with her husband, James Naccarato, a nationally-recognized artist, the founders of the company bring more than 30 years of combined experience in graphic design and project management, two of the most important skills required to deliver the best signs and graphic displays from concept to installation.

Sarah has over 15 years experience in sales and project management with SunAmerica, Korn/Ferry International, and most recently as Director of Operations Improvement with Heidrick & Struggles, Inc. In this role, she led the team that conceptualized, built and managed an off-shore research facility in New Delhi, India. Sarah oversaw the growth of the Knowledge Management Center from 3 to 120 people and the integration of operations from over 40 offices in 30 countries.

Sarah graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles. Something few people know about Sarah is that she grew up on a farm where she raised pigs, so she knows how to recognize a load of crap when she sees it. She and her husband James reside in Long Beach, California with their three children.

Tova Pusl

tovaTova is a mother of two children ages 15 and 12. She serves at the Site Administrator and “Child Whisperer” for The Lab and is an expert in parent training. Her parenting classes on non-violent communication enjoy a wide following in the Long Beach area. She is a talented singer and artist also performing regularly on the stage. She brings her creativity and compassionate approach to the Lab and in her interactions with both families and students.

Adrian Veliz

adrian.jpgAdrian is a father of three boys ages 6, 9, and 15. He is a managing partner at Work Evolution Laboratories (WE Labs), Long Beach’s first co-working space, and serves as a Senior Project Assistant for the City of Los Angeles, Special Project’s Unit. Adrian has assisted several pre-revenue, and in-market companies in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and served as a youth probation counselor  for over 10 years in the Watts and Boyle Heights communities.

Tara Sievers

taraTara is a Long Beach native. Her current work at Long Beach Community Foundation allows her to help improve the community through supporting philanthropy, grant giving and local nonprofits. She also has a passion for nature and education and has worked for El Dorado Nature Center for over 15 years.

Tara has her BA in Environmental Studies from UCLA and her MA in Science Education from USC. In her leisure, she likes to camp, garden and knit. Her family includes her partner Frank, their son and their two cats.
